Community

Some of the neighborhoods where I go walking have Neighborhood Watch signs with ominous iconography: dark figures in trenchcoats and always the large depictions of eyes. It’s unsettling by design. A core part of suburban life these days is the ever-present suspicion that you are always being watched.
